The Roadside Management sub-group of NDLG meets bi-monthly.
• it monitors the Newham area for roadside weeds
• working bees to remove or cut and paint weeds
• commissioned ecological surveys
• information and education sessions eg indigenous propogation, visiting speakers, speaker presentations to other groups
• Newsletter articles in-house, plus “The weedies, Newham Landcare’s roadside rangers”, article in Victorian Landcare Magazine, no 79, Spring 2020, p10-11. See the website page for a full list.
• In 2020 NDLG partnered with Macedon Ranges Shire Council on a federally-funded project to monitor roadside diversity. This was done by spotlighting for mammals across 10 roadsides in the Newham area, followed by community engagement workshops to further educate people about the value of roadsides as habitat.
