This event is part of
Annual 2 hour clean up of the creeks and adjoining public land along Castlemaine's urban 'creekways'.Visitors are very welcome. Morning tea provided.
We'll be cleaning up rubbish - bottles, plastic, paper, trolleys, old tyres, and dumped garden refuse. This rubbish is a substantial threat to platypus and other aquatic fauna.
The working bee will run from 8.00am to 10.00am. Like previous years, we're starting and finishing early to dodge the heat, but the forecast so far is for a beautiful mild day.
Details are:
•Meeting at: Winters Flat Footbridge, Midland Highway (Johnstone St), VICROADS Page 287 O7 - (zoom in on the map below). We'll then disperse into teams along the creek to do the work.
•Start time: 8:00 am
•We'll provide: collection bags; rubbish skip (courtesy of the Council), and tea/coffee biscuits.
•Please bring: hats, gloves, sturdy clothing, sun protection, your own water (and a friend). Long handled rakes are handy for dragging floating rubbish from deep pools and if you're really keen, gumboots or waders!
It'd be great if you're able to bring a vehicle and trailer as we hope to send groups to different locations along Forest Creek, Barkers Creek and Campbells Creek.
