This project is live

This project helped to enable volunteer groups who had an interest in nature reserves to access resources to implement improvements.
The Kick Start Your Reserve Project (KSYR) is an initiative aiming to enhance flora and fauna biodiversity and revamp facilities at major reserves across the Basalt to Bay region. This region is thought to contain as many as 75-100 public reserves with some 40 sites situated in close proximity of Warrnambool and surrounding districts. Many different types of reserve exist in the region.  Many reserves require assistance with funding, project development and connecting volunteers.
Key roles which we believe the initiative can play are:
Connecting volunteers (corporate, indigenous and urban)
Facilitating relationships
Sourcing funding
Developing on ground projects
Facilitating the review or development of management plans.

Since 2009, Basalt to Bay through KSYR has accessed funding to achieve the following outcomes.
Hawkesdale Golf Course and Racetrack reserve has received funding to undertake an extensive flora survey of all plants in order to help with future planning and management of the reserve. (Completed and published see attached)
Griffith Island Reserve at Port Fairy has received funding to plant advanced trees with wallaby proof guards.
Yatmerone Wetland Reserve at Penshurst has undertaken weed remove and revegetation works around the wetland (completed and Yatmerone Reserve link here:http://www.kanawinkageopark.org.au/tag/friends-of-yatmerone/)
