Speaker Craig Castree will talk about the links between soil health, plant nutritional value and our personal health.

Soils play a crucial role in providing the necessary nutrients for plant growth and development. This in turn changes the nutritional content of the plants themselves, and therefore the nutrients that are available for consumption by us as humans and the fauna.

But soil is more than this, in fact, exposure to a diverse range of microorganisms, including those found in soil and on farm animals, can have significant benefits on our gut microbiome.

Scientists have long known that a little dirt can be good for you. Research has suggested that people who grow up on farms, for instance, have lower rates of Crohn's disease, and asthma, likely because of their exposure to a diverse array of microbes.

For all those concerned about our planet’s future, our health and our legacy.
