Our Landcare Group seeks to engage with a wide range of landholders, including new landholders, existing farmers, life style property owners and absentee landholders with the aim of increasing knowledge and understanding of natural resource management issues in the area, while also helping the community to focus and channel efforts into achieving
positive outcomes for Natural Resource Management.
Our Landcare Group has demonstrated over many years that it has experience to successfully deliver these types of projects. Since 1990, The Bamganie Meredith Landcare Group have delivered 62 projects, resulting in the significant improvements to the catchment, including:
• Treating 11,125 metres (52% of their area) to reduce active erosion and saline gullies
• Treating 14,813 metres (25%) of degraded waterways
• Planting over 174,210 trees
• Protected 66.3 hectares of native vegetation
• Undertaken 67.5 hectares of rabbit control and harbour removal
• Constructed 8 KM of Landcare fencing protecting waterways and remnant vegetation.
To have successfully completed so much on-ground work and brought about such significant improvements demonstrates the Landcare Group has a strong record for managing projects and has the governance structure to deliver projects.
