Project description

Mynah birds are a serious threat to native birds and our project aimed to to try and limit their numbers and spread. Common mynas are an introduced agricultural pest, carry diseases and injure and displace native wildlife. Our group is involved in trying to limit their impact by trapping and destroying these birds.

Project learnings

Discussions about humane killing of pest birds isn't topic number 1 for group harmony in local landcare groups. Managing trap loans with deposits wasn't our core competency either. A deposit set as an amount equal to the purchase price seems to have been a disincentive for trap returns.
