We are working to eliminate Sycamore Maple (Acer pseudoplantanus) from the Budgeree Bushland Reserve. Everyone is welcome to help with this effort.
Sycamore Maple (Acer pseudoplantanus) is an invasive weed of wet and damp forests.
Our group has now been working on the infestation in the bush reserve for sixteen years. We have it mostly under control in the reserve, but need to keep at it.
As we get rid of the maples, the plants that are indigenous to the reserve are coming back to this beautiful remnant of old wet forest.
Please wear clothing suitable for the weather and robust footwear. Insect repellant and sunscreen are both a good idea..
You will also need to bring bring your water bottle and snacks. If you have hand tools such as loppers, secateurs and small trowels, these will be useful. We suggest that you put something very visible on the handles of any tools that you bring.
