Nan Oates, a scholar and writer takes us on a journey from the 1970's through the various positions she held working with tree programs and fire ecology.
Nan’s environmental writing and communications skills were enhanced by her depth of understanding people who live in the city and those in rural settings. With an Environmental Science Masters Degree, Nan took up various cutting-edge Government positions working with programs promoting new age thinking around farm forestry, conservation, landcare and fire ecology. Later with her own Consultancy business, Nan wrote several important ‘trees on farms’ books and worked closely with Local Government. Listening to Nan speak it is clear her sage comments still sit well today and are there for the picking to implement within local fire management and conservation strategies.
