Members of UPMCLG have been working towards restoring a part of Dry Creek along the Wallan-Whittlesea Road. This area was 'made' as a result of the realignment of the Wallan-Whittlesea Road making for wide road reserves and was in dire need of some care.
With help from TREC Land Services as well as grants from Fifteen Trees and Planet Ark, this area has recently undergone a transformation with the removal of weeds such as Blackberry, Gorse and Hawthorn Berry.
On National Tree Day, indigenous natives were reintroduced back to the area such as Red Ironbark, Swamp Gum, Blackwood, Silver Wattle, and Black Sheoak to name a few.
Over the coming years they hope to remove dumped rubbish, all declared weeds and replace them with locally native species supporting a range of local wildlife.
