Do you need some direction and information to help you run your farm or rural property? Have you been thinking about doing a farm plan? If so, you will be interested in an upcoming free property management planning course organised by the Upper Deep Creek Landcare Network in partnership with Mitchell Shire Council.
The three-day course will be held over three consecutive Saturdays: 9, 16 & 23 September 2017, at the Wallan Mulit-purpose Community Centre, Wallan, . The course is free (with lunch included) and a laminated aerial property map will be provided to attendees.

Landholders must be from properties of four hectares and above in Mitchell or Macedon Ranges Shires, able to attend all three days of the course and must provide soil test results from their property.
This course is based on the six day Farm Plan21 course, condensing the essential units into an informative three days of training. Participants will learn about essential farm planning topics such as land classing, property layout, fencing, soils and their management, pasture and livestock management, pest plants and animals, water supply and incorporating biodiversity into a sustainable farm or rural property. At the end of the course, participants will be armed with the skills and knowledge to complete a plan for their property aimed to improve productivity based on ecological and environmental factors.
The course will be presented by David Stewart from Small Farm Services Victoria. David is a consultant with a long history working specifically with smaller farmers to improve their lands productivity, sustainability and biodiversity values. David has presented several similar courses in the past for government departments and local farming and environment groups like Landcare.
