The project that brought the member groups of Nangana Landcare Network together and continues to inform our direction is the Beyond Yellingbo project which targeted private landholders within the landscape area. The establishment in 2020 of the Yellingbo Conservation Area, now called Liwik Barring Landcape Conservation Area, with two thirds of the land under the protection of the National Parks Act, applies to public land areas, including streamside reserves and existing conservation reserves.
While some of the private land vegetation is being cared for through Trust for Nature covenants, Land for Wildlife and Landcare activities, the vast majority is not and continues to be degraded and fragmented through inappropriate land management practices.
