Creating a wildlife corridor connecting three properties to enhance wildlife movements from State Park to State Park for phasgogales, possums, swomp wallabies etc
The area is a mix of Riparian Forest (EVC18), Valley Grassy Forest (EVC47)and Creekline Herb-rich Woodland (EVC164). The three properties represent a wildlife corridor from the State Park (the Common) to other densely forested properties crossing Jumping Creek twice. Nest boxes on one property are frequently used by endangered Brush-tailed Phascogales. Wedge-tailed Eagles nest nearby. The landholders have started individual restoration works. Through the combined intention and with the support of the Middle Yarra Landcare Network and especially the Jumping Creek Catchment Landcare Group this corridor can be created and enhanced.
Some areas are infested with various weeds (blackberry, capeweed, ivy, angled onion, pittosporum etc). Rabbits contribute to soil erosion in a partly very steep landscape. Lack of shrubs in some areas limits use for the Brush-tailed Phascogale. Creek tunnel erosion occurred in some areas that needs to be controlled and intercepted with vegetation
