Kinglake Landcare Group and Parks Victoria joined forces for National Tree Day this year.
On Sunday 28th July 2024, members and friends of the Kinglake Landcare Group joined Parks Victoria to replant a bushland reserve for National Tree Day.
Located near the start of the Pheasant Creek, Parks Victoria had done extensive weed control at the bushland reserve over the past two years. Domestic goats were used to reduce blackberry infestations in areas where spraying was not a suitable option. Follow-up blackberry eradication was implemented after removal of goats from the area.
We planted approximately 400 native grasses and understory plants amongst the taller established trees in the bushland reserve. Ferns were planted along the creek bank. Twenty critically endangered Round-leaf Pomaderris were planted along the roadside.
