“Four Winds – a walk, talk and gawk”
A property visit and knowledge-sharing event
at David and Joan’s place
“Four Winds”, northern end of Skyline Road North (Melways 266 F2)please park near the sign that says “Please park”
from 2pm - 5pm on Saturday, 6th October, 2007
“Four Winds” is the property of David and Joan Lang, and David’s father before him.
There are many aspects of local historical interest that David and Joan will point out for us. The property also boasts extensive and diverse areas of remnant native vegetation, and this spring visit offers us a great opportunity to seek out and learn to recognise some of the indigenous flora and fauna of Christmas Hills (and perhaps some of the not-so-welcome plants and animals). We will also find out how David and Joan’s application for a permit to remove pine trees from nearly 8 hectares of the property has fared.
As was with the similar event this time last year, learning from each other will be the flavour of the day.
At this activity you will
· Have a look around David and Joan’s property - “Four Winds”
· Discover and learn to recognise different plant and animal species
· Learn more about aspects of the local history of Christmas Hills
· Learn more about the knowledge and skills others bring to our group
· Have fun socialising with neighbours who, like you, are landcaring in Christmas Hills
Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing to suit the weather, and bring any of: plant, bird and other identification field guides, binoculars, camera, hand lens (magnifying glass) that you wish.

The rough program for the day is:
2:00pm – 4:00pm Guided walk around the property, led by David, to discover some of its history and natural values. All present will share their local flora and fauna recognition knowledge and skills
4:00pm – 5:00pm Afternoon tea - socialising with neighbours
