Ullina Landcare Group manage the Glengower reserve which is 8.5 Ha with the agreement of DELWP who liaise with the Dja Dja Wurrung.
Hepburn Shire Council funded a biodiversity study and fencing in the Glengower reserve. We engaged Karl Just, ecologist to conduct the study which is attached. The report provides management guidelines and some insights into the history of the site.
While the study was in progress we worked on the western end which was the site of school. It was littered with old iron and building materials. That area is now maintained with several rows of trees, a boundary fence and good access. The site is also used a CFA muster point as the creek provides permanent waterholes.
In December 2022, Mayor Cr Tim Drylie launched the study and unveiled signage pointing to the long term history and other aspects of the site. Karl spoke about the report and led a tour which revealed a number of surviving native grasses. The Group intend continued care of the site.
