Come along and help us re-establish wetland plants in one of the most fascinating parts of the creek-side environment.
Sunday the 14th of October is our last major planting day for the year.
We’ll be planting into ‘Lewis Swamp’; the only substantial natural wetland adjoining any of Castlemaine’s creeks.
We've been working for some years to eradicate aggressive weeds and have made really good progress. Now we need to replace them with native wetland plants that can stand up to these bullies of the plant world!
Because we have a lot of plants to put in the swamp, we’re starting earlier than normal. Luckily they’re really easy to plant and the soil is soft and moist.
You will also see last how year’s planting effort fared.
We hope you can come along and help us transform this place into a beautiful wetland habitat.
Meet in the car-park at the western end of Lewis Drive, Castlemaine for a 9:00 AM start. We'll finish at mid-day with a late morning tea.
Please bring: gloves, hats, sturdy clothing & footwear (gum boots advised), protection suitable for the weather, and your own water.
We’ll supply the rest - hope to see you there!
