This event is part of
Learn about the wetland plants of our district while re-planting one of the most fascinating parts of the creek-side environment.
Sunday the 28th of October is our last planting day for the year and we’ll be concentrating on aquatic plants.
Once again, we’ll be planting into ‘Lewis Swamp’; the only substantial natural wetland adjoining any of Castlemaine’s creeks. The swamp already has 11 wetland plant species—today we’ll be re-introducing more that we think have a chance.
The species we'll be planting are listed here with links to photos.
Most aquatic species are easy to grow and plant, but we’ll be working in muddy, wet soil at the edge of the water, so expect to get a little damp!
We hope you can come along and help us transform this place into a beautiful wetland habitat.
Meet in the car-park at the western end of Lewis Drive, Castlemaine for a 10:00 AM start.
We'll finish at mid-day with a late morning tea.
Please bring: gloves, hats, sturdy clothing & gum boots, protection suitable for the weather, and your own water.
We’ll supply the rest - hope to see you there!
