This event is part of
Planting and weed removal at the Bibron's Toadlet site
This will be at the 'Bibrons Toadlet site', where this rare species was heard by Karl Just a couple of years ago. Its habitat has been restored and the toadlets have said 'thank-you', but there is still work to do here. The task is to remove some gorse and other weeds, plant a few things, and collect more 'tangles' for our planting on 12th August.
Come to where Happy Valley Rd turns sharp right just 100 m before it crosses Moonlight Creek. Please park beside Happy Valley Road and walk the short distance up the unmade road (about 100 m).
Please wear stout footwear and dress for the weather. Bring gardening gloves (we will be dealing with gorse) and a lopper if you have them. It would be good if you cleaned the soles of your boots before arrival to reduce the chance of introducing any fungal diseases to the toadlets.
We will work until about 1.00 pm and morning tea will be available. Bring a thermos if you have one, as one of ours has broken.
Looking ahead, we still have a lot to do in the next couple of months, so here is a snapshot:
• On 12th August, we will be planting at Zeal bridge (where Colles Road meets Murphy/Farran Streets), where our volunteers have also done some preparation, thank you. There will also be a need for some help the day before (at 2 pm) to prepare for the planting
• On 26 August there will be a planting preparation day on Forest Creek behind Best Motors, followed by a planting day on 2 September.
