This event is part of
Annual general meeting and decision on whether to incorporate
Agenda includes the following:
- Consideration of the minutes of the 2016 AGM;
- President’s Report and Treasurer’s Report (copies of these will be available at the meeting);
- Election of a committee - please consider whether you can contribute in this arena and nominate yourself or someone else for the committee
- Setting of membership fees (no $ changes proposed).
There is also one special item – incorporation. The committee recommends that CLG becomes an incorporated association, primarily so that -
a. We can go for grants without having to find someone to auspice us because we are unincorporated; and
b. We protect our committee from the possibility of individual liability if something was to go wrong.
An incorporated association requires a constitution, a set of rules as to how the organisation runs. The committee is finalising a set of rules, heavily based on the Consumer Affairs Victoria set of ‘model rules’ for clubs and not-for-profit organisations. The committee is suggesting a set of objectives and a small set of amendments to the model rules to ensure that we do not affect any of the current spirit of the organisation.
The AGM will be asked to support the idea of incorporation and the proposed rules.
