BPA / Friends of Bealiba community group.
Bealiba Progress Association (BPA) and Friends of Bealiba
Vision: To build a good relationship between the public, Landowners and Landcare groups, with assistance from government agencies. To support the local community to have an interest in and care for the local environment. Flow on benefits will include: pride amongst community members, increased indigenous species and ultimately a healthier and more diverse wetland.
In 2008 the Friends of Bealiba community group began to gather information and support from community members, the Bealiba Progress Association, the local primary school, the Department of Sustainability and Environment, the Department of Primary Industries and the local shire. The group then applied for a Second Generation Landcare Grant from the State Government, through the North Central CMA. The BPA/Landcare Culvert Restoration Project aimed to clear and revegetate both sides of the culvert. The project was successful and cleanups and plantings commenced in June 2009.
In February 2010 the BPA / Friends of Bealiba community group applied for a Group Maintenance Grant from the State Government, through the North Central CMA. This grant assisted the group with administration and communication costs.
The BPA / Friends of Bealiba community group welcomes new members and volunteers. Please contact the Project Manager Nola McClelland on 03 54 691 225 for further information.
