A state govt funded biodiversity initiative led by Jill Dawson
This State-funded project will allow for two groups of ten volunteers to attend a series of training sessions focusing on techniques of propagating and growing local native plants and understanding their role in the bush ecosystem.
Bush visits will the main feature of the sessions and will be led by local native plant expert and ecologist Jill Dawson, who will point out the relationships between the plants, creatures and their environment.
Participants will be able to attend up to 8 sessions on Sunday mornings or Monday afternoons of their choice between August and December, getting to know each other through shared experiences in constructing something new, and will also produce plants at a minimal cost for use in Landcare projects.
Ms Dawson, who initiated and will be leading the project, said that there has been an excellent response to Landcare’s call for volunteers.
“There are still places available in the program, but only about seven at the moment, so I advise people to get in touch fairly soon.”
