The Benambra, Dinner Plain, Omeo Landcare Group formed in 2009 when the three separate groups amalgamated into one.
The group's focus is to help preserve and maintain our unique alpine / high country environment, whilst encouraging and establishing eco friendly practices in the area. We believe helping to maintain what happens at the top of the mountain, may help those further down the mountain.
Key aims are to bring about awareness to issues, such as weeds, erosion, water quality, and pest problems. Along with helping to promote, upgrade and maintain public access areas such as walking and biking tracks in the local region.
We hope to implement projects that will benefit the environment, local community and visitors to the area. These projects will be achieved via the participation of volunteer members, the local community, school groups and relevant authorities such as Alpine Shire, Parks Vic and DEPI. The group goal is to complete at least one project per summer.
