The Murrayville Landcare group formed in 1993 and covers an area of approximately 22,000ha, from the South Australia border to the locality of Boinka and is situated between the South Boundary of the Murray Sunset National Park and the northern boundary of the Big Desert Wilderness. Major land use in the district is dry land farming with some irrigation utilising the Duddo Limestone aquifer. Whilst pest animal control was a strong focus in the early years of the group, the Landcare Group has played an important role in implementing landscape change through other natural resource management projects focusing on such as wind erosion, protecting and enhancing biodiversity and salinity.
