This year on National Tree Day, 11 members of the Cathedral LandcareG Group came together to plant over 700 reeds, grasses and ground cover plants as well as more than 100 trees and shrubs on a property on Swamp Creek Road.
The aim of the planting was to increase the biodiversity on the property as well as to help slow the flow of water from the top of the property to the bottom.
While the rain held off for the planting, the subsequent higher than average rainfall has greatly assisted the plants in establishing themselves with the main challenge being how to protect the new growth from both kangaroos and feral deer.
