The Black Saturday fire burnt much of the Sunday Creek/Dry Creek Landcare group area and as such the members thought it appropriate to be involved in the fire recovery process.
Stock and property management
The group completed a mail out about property and livestock recovery to 56 landholders in the fire affected area from a list of current and former members, those who authorised for their details to be passed on via the Mitchell Shire Land Management Rebate, or through the South West Goulburn Landcare Coordinator. The information kits included; A copy of the DPI ‘Recovery after Fire’ book, a Central Victorian Weeds Guide, a Mitchell Shire Land Management Information Directory, a copy of the latest South West Goulburn newsletter and a one page list of local contacts for fire recovery. More kits have been compiled ready to distribute to those who may find the information useful, these are available at the Wandong Recovery Centre.
Gardening after the FireThe re-establishment of gardens is part of the fire recovery process.
The SCDC Landcare Group with the support of many others has given out over 7000 plants to people who lost gardens and farm trees in the Black Saturday fires.

Erosion Control after the Fire
Erosion and the siltation of waterways and dams is a real issue post fire.
To this effect the Rotary Club of Southern Mitchell, supported by the Pretty Sally Garden Club have secured loads of rice straw which are available to landholders affected by the fires. The Sunday Creek-Dry Creek Landcare Group are assisting to deliver this program, together with a Greencorp team.

Wildflower walks
The SCDC Landcare Group hosted several wildflower walks in the burnt areas to inform people of the regeneration of the bush post fire. These were all a great success and something that the group would like to do again.
