Home Creek-Spring Creek are working with Merton Landcare group and have established the Merton-Cathkin Blackberry Action Group (BAG). The group have contracted a project Officer, Cameron Patterson, to coordinate the project. Currently there are several land owners who have committed to a three year management plan to manage blackberry on their properties. The BAG is working in partnership with Murrindindi Shire, Vic Roads and Parks Victoria to develop a community based project to manage blackberry across the area.
The program is supported by the Victorian Blackberry Task Force (VBT). Mike Reid, CEO of the VBT came to Yarck earlier this year to launch the group and was very supportive of the group and encouraged by the positive response from land holders.
