The Warrnambool Coastcare Landcare Network (WCLN) is a very active volunteer-based organisation working in Warrnambool and district. We undertake environmental conservation and restoration works and community education activities in urban, peri-urban and rural areas. From its beginnings as an amalgamation of Warrnambool Landcare Group and Warrnambool Coastcare Group, WCLN now also auspices other local "Friends" and Landcare groups. We partner with Warrnambool City Council and Deakin University on the internationally famous Middle Island Project in which Maremma guarding dogs protect a threatened Little Penguin Colony. In any one year WCLN also conducts numerous tree planting and maintenance days and community education days. We are also very active in helping shape policies and strategies at the local and state government levels. WCLN involves hundreds of volunteers every year and warmly welcomes new volunteers.
