The Tarragal Landcare Group has a long history of on ground project work dating back to 2005. The group originally formed to raise awareness of the need to maintain existing vegetation in the landscape, to restore the connectivity in the landscape between their members and to provide opportunities for like-minded people to connect.
The organisation has recently attracted new members who’s focus has shifted to the mounting community concerns about the aggressive and mobile nature of weeds throughout their district.

Organisation aims for 2022-25
• Plant 110 Paddock trees on private property at Bridgewater over the next 3 years as part of Tarragal’s moonah enhancement program. They will be planted in substantial timber tree-guards impervious to cattle.
• Support landholders to protect remnant bushlands on their property through exclusion fencing and appropriate grazing regimes
• Continue to advocate for the flora and fauna of the Trewalla Recreation Reserve
• Support landholder membership to Landcare and provide access to the Victorian Landcare Grants Program with support from the Landcare Facilitator
• Control woody weeds at our priority project sites on both public and private land
• Host at least one open property per year with support from the Landcare Facilitator and the membership
