Do you have a wetland on your farm?
Funding is now available for wetland protection in the Upper Hopkins catchment area.
Wetlands may also be known as swamps, lakes or marshes, can be freshwater or saline and can be wet or dry depending on seasonal conditions.
The Glenelg Hopkins region contains 44% of Victoria’s wetlands. The 5,400 wetlands cover 73,000 ha. Many of the wetlands are on private property and are managed by private landholders. Many wetlands are currently at risk with changing land practices.
Glenelg Hopkins CMA has secured Victorian Government funding to work with landholders in the Upper Hopkins catchment to help protect and restore these valuable areas in 2020.
Expressions of interest are now sought from private landholders to undertake funded management actions to protect wetlands in the Darlington, Lake Bolac, Ararat and Beaufort areas within the Upper Hopkins catchment.
To register your interest, contact Tania Parker at Glenelg Hopkins CMA on 5571 2526 or t.parker@ghcma.vic.gov.au
Expressions of interest close Friday 27 September 2019.
