The Hamilton Coleraine Railway Line Landcare Group held a National Tree Day at Paul & Naomi McKays property where 600 indigenous species were planted to enhance their wetland.
The Hamilton to Coleraine Railway Line Landcare Group held a very successful National Tree day on Saturday 8th at Paul and Naomi McKay’s property on the outskirts west of Hamilton .
There were over 30 participants present, including members of the Landcare Group, staff of the Western District Health Service, members of the community including school children.
Approximately 600 trees of indigenous species were planted around their wonderful wetlands. A community sausage sizzle followed where great networking was possible.
Funding for the tress was obtained from the Glenelg Hopkins CMA through the assistance of the Local Landcare facilitator, Susan Kamp.
