The Swifts Creek Ensay Landcare follows the Tambo River valley from Bindi in the north down to Tambo Crossing. It covers 575 sq/kms in the East Gippsland Uplands bioregion of Victoria and is bounded on most sides by state forest. The group has a focus on working with larger landholders (mainly farmers) with an emphasis on weed and pest management, soil conservation, erosion, and management of the riparian zone (including the crown reserve) along the river. Recent major bushfire events have added recovery, revegetation, and habitat restoration to the scope of issues addressed. A growing interest in sustaining biodiversity and the impacts of climate change will continue to feed into new areas of interest and broader community engagement.
