Most primary producers would be aware that soil is their farm’s greatest asset. So it is with excitement that Far East Victoria Landcare is hosting a fieldday for local producers to better understand their soils, with Gerhard Grasser of Agrisolutions.
Gerhard has a wealth of experience in soil biology and chemistry, particularly through organic and holistic principles. He also manages a commercial farm ‘Grasser Farms’ in South Gippsland using these practices to maximise soil health.
This fieldday will allow attendees to understand how to;
• Assess their soil health based on soil chemistry, physical structure and biology to then better manage in relation to what is the ‘best fit for a specific purpose’.
• Use biological farming practices to enhance their soil which in turn promotes the growth of growth of grass all year round.
• Provide information on composting and offer advice for those who are considering using actively aerated compost teas in their enterprise.
