The project aimed to improve groundcover over Autumn and reduce the risk of soil erosion by planting perennial pastures where only annual crop or grasses were currently grown.
Fourteen landholders from the Weerite area (near Camperdown) were involved in the 3 year program and sowed a total of 186ha of perennial pastures. Soil samples were taken (March and April) on paddocks across 14 properties as part of the annual soil testing program associate with the program. These were analysed by Farmright and results and recommendations provided to landholders.
Two farm walks were conducted in the final stage of the project, with 22 attending an evening session in March 2013, and 9 attending a session in June 2013 (with 6 apologies were provided and it was a very cold wet day).
