The Corangamite Shire has the funded a Lismore Land Protection Group project aimed at mapping, collecting seed and propagating Lightwood (Acacia implexa) from remnant populations from within the Corangamite Shire and neighbouring Golden Plains Shire.

Acacia implexa is a shrub or small tree 3m – 15 metres high, with pale yellow flowers usually from December through to March. It was once scattered accross the Victorian Volcanic Plains including around Lismore, but now very few local remnants remain.
The Corangamite Shire through their Environment Support Fund have contributed $1,030 towards mapping local remnants, collecting seed and propagating Lightwoods of local provenance. Known remants include populations or individuals at Lismore, Pittong, Cressy, Rokewood and Cape Clear.
