Lal Lal Catchment Landcare Group mainly works on weed control on local reserves and roadsides to prevent weed invasion on private land from public areas. The Group is responsible for six reserves and the main weed problems include gorse and blackberries, with patches of English broom and Spanish Heath.
A corridor of appropriate native trees from Mt Buninyong to Mt Warrenheip would greatly assist koalas to migrate through the region. The Group has joined with the Upper Williamsons Creek Landcare Group to create the 'Two Mountains Koala Trail'. At present the group is seeking interest from landholders who would be prepared to plant some trees as koala feed and refuge.
We are also assisting the Landcare Network deliver a project on gorse control, funded by the Victorian Gorse Task Force.
