The Barongarook Landcare Group covers the catchment area of the Barongarook Creek which flows into Lake Colac. It also covers a section of the Boundary Creek from its source as far as the Apollo Bay Road at Yeodene. The group has been funded to employ a part time Landcare facilitator. The funding is through the Victorian Landcare Facilitators Program being implemented by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.

Over the last couple of years the BLG has been working towards forming the Central Otway Landcare Network (COLN). The Network area includes: Beech Forest, Ferguson, Weeaproinah, Carlisle River, Gellibrand, Kawarren, Barongarook, Barongarook West, Yeodene, Yeo, Elliminyt, Stony Rises and the Alvie area).
