2025 Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants - Now Open!

Supporting young Victorians to care for our natural environment

Overview

The Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants provide funding for projects that involve and educate young people in valuing and actively caring for Victoria’s biodiversity and natural environment.

Funding

In 2025 total funding of $450,000 has been provided for the Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants. Since 2018, the Victorian Government has invested $3 million in the Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants to engage young people in environmental projects and learning activities.

Eligible applicants can apply for grants of up to $5,000 (excluding GST).

Eligibility

The grants are open to all schools, Scouts, Girl Guides, youth groups, and Junior Landcare groups in Victoria.

Cross-border schools with Victorian students are eligible to apply.

Priorities for funding - focus areas

Funding is available for projects which engage young people in activities under two focus areas. Projects can be for either of the two focus areas or a mixture of both:

  • Focus Area 1: Biodiversity focused education activities: educating, involving, and engaging young people in valuing and actively caring for Victoria’s biodiversity and natural environment.
  • Focus Area 2: Biodiversity focused on-ground projects: engaging young people to improve biodiversity through creating, enhancing, or restoring habitat for Victoria’s native plants and animals.

These grants support the delivery of Protecting Victoria's Environment - Biodiversity 2037, Victoria’s 20-year plan to stop the decline of our native plants and animals and improve our natural environment.

The grants are funded through DEECA’s Victorian Landcare Program and administered by Landcare Australia as part of its national Junior Landcare program.
