Booking is essential for this twilight workshop which provides an opportunity to find out more about bats and their role in our ecosystem. We are hoping to find some living locally.
Bats play an essential role in ecosystem health. They are a diverse group of mammals that have fascinating adaptations and behaviours.
Join us for our walk and talk where you will learn about your local bat species that often go unseen and unheard in the environment.
We will cover where bats like to live, what they like to eat, adaptations to flight and how they navigate and communicate.
We will also talk about current threats to bat species and how you can help.
On our walk you will be able to show you how we detect bats that have ultrasonic calls (above our hearing range), look out for suitable bat habitat and hopefully see some bats in action.
The workshop will be led by Laura Owen who is an ecologist working with Wildlife Unlimited in Bairnsdale.
